Lisa M. Johnson, PSY.D., LP, LMFT
Lisa is a licensed marriage and family therapist who has more than seven years of experience doing in-home therapy. She has worked in a day treatment facility, a state hospital, and a chemical dependency unit. Additionally, as part of her family therapy specialty, Lisa spends time on-site at South High School, in Minneapolis, where she meets with adolescents and families. In many cases, going on location to meet with clients enables a more comfortable and conducive environment.
Lisa believes it is important to collaborate with a client and help him or her pinpoint, and in turn, separate problems. The process starts with identification – a 360 degree examination of all areas of the client’s life. Who supports whom, what effect does that have and how does it influence hopes, values, and strengths? The key, Lisa believes, is to use those areas in the value system to manage problems. It’s an internal infrastructure of sorts, and it is important to realize that it’s different for everyone.
Lisa’s areas of specialty include:
Therapy for adolescents struggling with chemical dependency, depression, anxiety, truancy, emotional issues, sexual identity issues, abuse, and family issues through the use of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, and solution focused therapy, and hypnosis. She also specializes in family therapy; therapy for adults struggling with anxiety, depression, emotional difficulties, sexual identity issues, and health issues; ADHD assessments; psychological evaluations (inpatient and outpatient) and personality make-up evaluations.
