Jonathan Hoistad

A licensed psychologist and licensed marriage and family therapist, Dr. Hoistad is the senior member of Natalis Counseling & Psychology Solutions. His clinical practice includes consultation in mental behavioral health, family practice medicine, pre-surgery psychological evaluations, court consultation, school consultation, social service consultation, as well as teaching and supervision of psychology interns.

Dr. Hoistad believes that working in partnership with his patients to provide care, compassion, and understanding, creates the best outcomes in the services he provides.

Dr. Hoistad’s areas of specialty include:

Individual psychological support

Psychological Evaluations: ADHD, LD, assessment of emotional and cognitive functioning, personality assessment, competency/guardianship evaluations, autism spectrum disorders, assessment of medication response

Individual health psychological support

Pre-surgery health and behavior assessment: Cardiac, bariatric, spine implant, dialysis and transplantation, and oncology support

Rehabilitation Planning: Evaluation of mental states and emotional functioning after trauma, stroke, and critical care incidents

Education & Professional Activities

Dr. Hoistad received a B.A. in Psychology, with minors in Humanities and Social Sciences from the University of Minnesota, before receiving an M.A. in Developmental Psychology degree in 1974, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology degree in 1975 from the California School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Hoistad is a licensed psychologist in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Dr. Hoistad is an active staff member at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital, HealthEast Care System, Red Cedar Medical Center (Mayo Health System), St. Croix Health and Human Services, and the University of Minnesota Hospital, Fairview. Dr. Hoistad is also involved with Shoreview Family Psychologists and Minnesota Valley Psychologists.

New Services

Natalis Counseling & Psychology Solutions has adopted a Psychology Care Model similar to the Medical Home Model. As a result of this model, we are creating Psychology Care Manager positions.

Be an Intern at Natalis

Our Pre-Doctoral Psychology internship, available to doctoral level Ph.D. and Psy.D. graduate students, is a 2,000 hour training requirement that involves a one year, full-time commitment to on-site training.
