Dr. Varga has been
working with children and their families for nearly two decades. She specializes
in assessment and therapy with children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental
and neuropsychiatric disorders, medical conditions, and neurological injury,
illness, and trauma. She is also qualified in the assessment and diagnosis of
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) and has worked extensively with the
Minnesota Organization of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (MOFAS).
Prior to her work in psychology, Dr. Varga was a special education teacher in
Montreal, Canada, where she taught children and adolescents with concurrent
developmental delays, learning disabilities, and emotional and behavioral
disorders. She received her Masters in Educational Psychology at McGill
University and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the Fielding
Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, California. Dr. Varga was trained in adult
neuropsychology at the Veteran’s Administration in Boston and subsequently
completed a child neuropsychology fellowship at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical
School. Dr. Varga was trained in pediatric psychology at Primary Children’s
Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, completing both a research fellowship
and her pre-doctoral internship. She completed her post-doctoral training in
clinical child psychology at Human Services Incorporated (HSI) in Oakdale, MN.
Dr. Varga is an experienced speaker, having been invited to give lectures
nationally on various topics in child psychology, psychological assessment, and
FASD diagnosis. She is also trained in supervision and has strong interests in
research and teaching.
Dr. Varga has a passion for working with children with special needs and their
families. She is dedicated to improving the lives of young children and
adolescents through early screening, diagnosis, and therapy. She has worked
extensively in both inpatient and outpatient settings and enjoys collaborating
with healthcare, educational, and community providers to provide coordination of
care for families.
